RE: Poked a hole in the kitchen sink!

Mine cracked around the drains. I went to Home Depot and they ordered a stainless steel one for about $120. It arrived in 3 days. Easy replaced.

RE: Good Year Marathon Tires replaced

Mission sent me new tires everytime one failed also, but when the last one blew out and could have damaged the camper I had to do something else. The new tires Mission (Tireco) sent me were put on my 16ft. flatbed trailer that I use around the house. It doesn't see more than 5k. For the camper, I went with 16 in B F Goodrich Commercial TA's. Have had no more tire trouble.

RE: wd hitch behind a 5th wheel?

Cooljman1
If you are wanting to tow a 4wd ranger p-up on a car hauler, you are going to be pulling at least 5 thousand pounds. Do you want to tow that much behind your fiver?

RE: Tires

I had five of the Mission tires to fail before I decided I had to do something else. I ended up going from a ST225/75R/15D to an LT225/75R/16E B F Goodrich Commercial TA's tire. Going to a LT tire is the best answer, whether you go with Michelin, Uniroyal, or B F Goodrich. If you don't want to spend that much more for new wheels, I would go with Maxxis in the E rating. You need to have your trailer weighed when you are loaded and ready to go. Wish you well.

RE: Portable PVC lamp poles

I built mine just like silverthunderroad05 did. Except I used two T's. One arm displays our sign. The other arm on opposite side and a little lower displays a flag or orniment for the season. Used a screw in photo cell in the light socket that turns the light on at dusk. Handy to see key hole in door when coming back from shopping and eating out after dark.
On our first trip in 2003 we saw one in a campground in Pigeon Forge. I walked over and talked to the guy that had it and looked it over real good. Went home and made one.

RE: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.

Professo95 I had one of those in my service truck a few years ago. It worked fine to run a drill motor, skill saw, lights etc. It will take a battery down in just a jiffy without the motor running though. They are ideal for a service truck where you don't have AC power and don't need to run what ever your running for very long.

RE: 30 to 50 AMP

I did what Bobo and wayne tw says. It cost between 4 and 5 hundred. The 50amp wire and 50amp plugs are whats so expensive. The best mod I've done besides going to LT 16 inch tires.

RE: Other than stock tires?

Google tire size calculator. You can compare different tires to get what size you want.

RE: Concern about electric brakes

Electric brakes don't work off the brake light circuit. They work through the brake controller circuit. I've heard electric brakes are not very good with boat trailers due to them being emerged in water.

RE: Bigfoot found in GA! Fox News Link/Interview

I just turned 58. When I was a kid about 10 years old, an old lady saw a ape looking creature walking upright along a dry creek bed in upper Jackson County Alabama. Less than a half mile from the Tennessee border. Back then we had never heard of Big Foot. Like mentioned before, they have supposedly been seen on every continent.

RE: RV dump install at home - tips needed.

So you don't kill them with your faulty wiring, None Vented Sewer System... Bill
Hey, thanks for these posts (and the spirited discussion within).
This quote made me wonder if this 'extra cleanout' needs to be vented anywhere along the line?
Thanks again!
I would guess, while you are dumping it will be vented through the RV's sewer system. A perminent plumbed in bathroom thats hooked this way into a septic tank that's far away would need to be vented.

RE: Theft security of fifth wheel hitch

Most crooks are to lazy to steal a fifth wheel hitch. I've never thought about locking it. I do lock the mechanism shut while pulling to keep some kid from pulling the level to unlock the hitch.

RE: Brake adjustment update!!!

Buy a couple of cans of spray type brake cleaner when you decide to check them yourself. It's been discussed on here a lot about using the zerk grease fittings. For me it's better to remove, inspect and repack the bearings the dirty way. You need to inspect them every couple of years, at least anyway.
JBarca has a post with excellent instructions on wheel bearing packing and brake adjusting. I don't know how to post the short cut, but his article was good enough that I saved it in one of my folders.

RE: Toyota Tundra or Nissan Titan as Tow Vehicles

Through the years I've had 2 Chevy Luv's, One Nissan, One Toyota. They were all 4 cylinders though. On every one of them I either had a head gasket blow or valve burnt. I hope the V8's are a better engine. My suggestion is stay well within your tow rating.

RE: Change oil at 3K miles or by veh. computer ? Revised page 7

A professor of Ag Engineering named Jim Frisbee at University of Missouri said, "I figure that the oil company wants to sell oil and that the car company wants to sell cars, so I change my oil somewhere between the oil-company's recommendation and the car company's recommendation.
AND
The company I used to work for saw 5000 miles as a nice, round, easy-to-remember number that fit nearly perfectly into Dr. Frisbee's rule.
Very knowledgeable post. I change mine around 3500 and 4000.

RE: New GMC truck -- bed/trailer clearance

Truck mfg. don't listen to us. They started the horse power war instead of fuel mileage war, then one of the little truck people got into building bigger trucks and guess what? They have X amount of cubit feet in their truck bed. What does the American truck mfg. do? Exactly what you are having to deal with now, just to say they have X amount of cubit feet in there bed. If I was going to buy a new truck. I would get a flat bed dually, just because of what yall are having to deal with now.
